Q&A with Kathleen

What do you do at CAES?

I serve as the Program Coordinator for CAES at the UGA Griffin Campus. I provide academic advising for all CAES degree programs offered at the Griffin Campus. I also work with faculty and staff within the CAES to coordinate room reservations, course scheduling, assisting with instructional needs, and providing administrative support for members at the Griffin campus. My main focus is providing all-encompassing support for students, teaching faculty and research faculty.

How do you interact with students and improve student life in CAES?

I interact with students on a daily basis! From the moment you are interested in pursuing your degree with CAES at the Griffin campus, I am the one to help you through the process. I love being able to sit down with students and help map out their courses for their upcoming semesters. I work directly with students for pre-advising, class registration, and graduation requirements. I also help organize campus events and attend local recruiting events where I get to meet future bulldogs. I strive to improve student life by advising and counseling both future bulldogs and our current students. I provide students with class schedules to ensure graduating on time, encourage study-abroad programs, assist with scholarship opportunities, and provide letters of recommendations for potential career placement.

My favorite thing about CAES is our students! I love being able to work with my students every day. Since I start working with my students even before they apply, I really become invested with each CAES student that attends the Griffin campus. I not only want to see each one graduate, but also achieve that dream job they have always wanted. Our CAES students are provided with outstanding resources within an academically acclaimed college that is known world-wide. Our research faculty and facilities provide hands-on learning with cutting-edge industry technology. Our students are equipped with in-class activities that will help them graduate at the top of their class. I enjoy hearing success stories and where our graduates are now when they come back to visit our campus. Making sure each student succeeds on their dream path is what I love most about CAES.
