Q & A with Bekah
What do you do at CAES?
In my role as Academic Counselor for the College of Ag & Environmental Sciences, I have the pleasure of working with students in our college to help them succeed in their personal and academic goals. I work with students primarily on stress-reduction, study skills, and time management techniques in order to help make their time at UGA as productive and enjoyable as possible. I also work with students who are placed on academic probation and dismissal in order to help them gain the skills and abilities they need to be successful here at UGA! I also act as a guide to help students connect with community resources to help them on their path to success. Whether through personal counseling at one of the many counseling centers on campus, free tutoring through the Academic Resource Center, or a number of other available resources, I work to help students get the support they need to live their best life as an Ag Dawg.
How do you interact with students and improve student life in CAES?
I enjoy interacting with students on a daily basis through one-on-one meetings, as well as through our Academic Counseling workshops and events that occur during the spring semesters. I try to help improve student life in CAES by helping students realize their full potential in academics and personal life through goal setting, skill development, and referrals to community resources to help them grow!
What is your favorite thing about CAES?
I truly believe CAES is one of the best colleges here at UGA. We are the only college within the UGA system that has our own in-house Academic Counselor, which shows how much we as a college value our students and want them to succeed. All of our Academic Affairs staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and work hard to help our students be their best selves.
