Uruguay: Sustainable Beef and Grain Production and Marketing Systems
Spend your spring break studying international agribusiness and environmental management while discovering agricultural practices in Montevideo, Punta del Esta, Trienta y Tres and other surrounding cities.
About this Program
In between sightseeing and relaxing at the beach, students will take multiple trips—including visiting the following:
- Pasture-based dairies
- Grain-finished beef operations
- Grass-fed/organic beef and lamb operations
- Grain and oilseed farms
- Local farmers markets
- Beef packing plant
Before Spring break, students will take an online class during the spring semester over Uruguay and international markets and trade. Participants are required to keep a travel journal, write a short paper and give a presentation about their experience.
By the end of this once-in-a-lifetime spring break trip, students will have a unique and distinct understanding of sustainable agriculture, how economic and political policies impact international trade and prices, and how agribusinesses in other countries get their USDA certification.
