Avian Adventures

About the Program

This short course is open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the field of poultry science. Participants apply new skills and have fun while sharing a unique educational experience.

The 2017 Avian Adventures program is July 10-12, 2017, and the application deadline is May 19, 2017.

Topics covered include:

  • Microbiology
  • Avian anatomy
  • Avian reproduction
  • Embryology
  • Surgical Techniques
  • Physiology and Behavior

In addition to these subjects, students will be engaged in discussion with faculty, undergraduate and graduate students on topics that range from poultry science and avian biology to college life and admission to the University of Georgia. Students will have the opportunity to work with leading experts in the areas of physiology, microbiology reproductive physiology, endocrinology, management and biotechnology.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a major and career in the areas of poultry science and avian biology.

  • Applicants must be rising sophomores, juniors and seniors.

  • Preference is given to students who have not previously attended the course
