About Pre-Health

The University of Georgia doesn’t offer a “pre-med” major, so the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences offers multiple science-heavy majors for students to attain their baccalaureate degree while meeting admission requirements, course prerequisites, and attaining the desired standardized test scores of their preferred medical, pharmacy, dental or physician assistant school(s). Any of the science-based majors in CAES can accommodate students with an interest in pre-health.  Biological Sciences is a popular major for pre-health students. We strongly encourage students to check with their desired professional school to make sure they take the necessary pre-requisite courses for admission while at UGA.

Professional schools our pre-health majors prepare students for:

  • Medical
  • Optometry
  • Dental
  • Physician Assistant
  • Nursing
  • Pharmacy
  • Physical Therapy

Pre-Health majors in CAES include:

Your professional advisor can help you if you have questions about developing a pre-med program of study, the new MCAT, the process of applying to med school, or whether or not med school is right for you.
